L'Alta Regina Whoa, it's June already... I'm dying. No, kidding. I quite enjoying live for the last weeks but eh, gotta talk about it on the personal blog post later! (If I remember to) Anyway! Things getting busy so I won't draw much, just like what I've said on previous post. Probably the one which I'll do is only birthday art, yes.. Come to think of it, I rarely draw Math and I wanted to draw her this morning so yeah, quite satisfied with the result! On an unrelated note, whee, finally the seventh entry. Seven is my favorite number so I gotta talk about favorite things too, here! Which is, hair and eyes. Of all the coloring process, these two are the most part I enjoy to do, yet also, the most inconsistent, and hellish. Especially hair. Yeah, damn too inconsistent. I wasn't really pleased on how coloring eyes and make it somehow alive so on the first year drawing digitally, I was frustrated, haha. On late 2010, I finally look up for tutorial and quite pleased with the way I color it, so I still used that style (albeit with some subtle change) until last year. I was bored on how I color it, and the eye design from Kiznaiver is really pretty, so I took reference from it and yyep, now I use it to color eyes, again, with some subtle change. Back then when drawing eyes, I went with either kira-kira desu round eyes or slanted. And throughout the years, it's either going larger or smaller subtly. Now, having been working on comics, and thinking to avoid the Six Faces Syndrome, I try my best to draw eyes among characters differently, as well as changing their skin color. But it somehow backfires in a way because every time I draw another character, I'm like, "Wait, I have no more idea for the new eye design," Aside from eye shape, I want to experiment with different facial features too! Gotta practice on that, I guess... Eyebrows and eyelashes never really bothers me, at first, so I didn't really pay attention to it. I used to draw eyebrows with same line weight as lineart, so thin it's almost invisible. But now it is thicker and I give darker color from the hair. As for hair.... HAHAHA, really, even until now I'm still inconsistent and going back and forth. Hair is always the most challenging part. Like, how to make it looks good without looking like overdoing it or so. Back then, I was struggling and think to shade it strand by strand (it's exhausting orz), but now I was more like, eh, sure, whatever quick and look nice enough. I never confident about my hair coloring. As well as drawing it since, when I look back the old art, even the fringe was so stiff.. (laugh) So, to overcome the problem, I tried to draw curly hair as much as I can. But In the end Now, I can't draw character with straight hair anymore orz orz orz Weeks ago a commissioner asked me to draw their OC, and having knowing said OC has straight hair I was like, "GODDAAAAAAAMNNNN my weakness!!" However in the end, somehow I managed to pull it through and they were satisfied by my work. So did I. Yes, good thing. I like drawing various hairstyles, too! I can come up with girls' hairstyles but I really suck at deciding boys hahaha... In the end, I rely a lot on free resources and tweak it into something that makes me easier to draw it. Speaking of hair, when I sorted out my children, I just realized. I have way a lot children with shades of blonde and brown. Now come in all variant!
Haha, honestly I'm surprised when realized it. I'm never good at coloring hair with wild anime dye (such as green, purple, PINK..... oh God I hate it when I can't get the color right for pink hair) so in the end, I tend to pick somewhere between blond and brown. Natural hair color is the best. Preach. Economics is ash blonde, supposedly. And Tilla, Psyche, Chem, and Socio is somewhere between ginger and amber, not orange, supposedly. Also! I just realized I often color the eyes with either green or red, so, that too. Oh, and blue. Lmao my kojinteki no shumi is easy to guess, I'd say... While I do like coloring hair with natural color, still I find difficulties in coloring black hair. So I either using another color as a shade. Need to practice more on this... Comments are closed.
