Propinquity I'm somehow troubled whether to post this on SM main blog or here, but in the end, I opted to write it here instead. Hm, I do plan to write about their dynamic and relationship much later on the main blog though, after some strips, maybe. Here, I just want to write from the technical details, haha. As I always said, working on key visual is always fun. Yet, making conception to be executed is not. It's... been awhile since the last time I draw visual for combination? Five months, IIRC. The latest one was Religious Studies and Civics. Drawing Socio and Chem is always fun, yet it's kind of ironic that despite doodling them most often, I always run out of idea if it's about something serious like this. "Interaction" is the key for this seemingly far-fetched duo, hence, I want them 'touching' each other, in a way. Because that's the kind of interaction that they do most, to their respective point of interest. I... initially wanted them to lie upside down, touching each other hands, yeah, that cliche pose haha, but in the end I made them kneeling, for a sense of transition from sitting to standing together hand in hand, something like that. Another challenging thing about these two is, inserting their elements without seemingly forced hahahaha. Come to think that chemical structure/bonds somehow has similar shape with social networking, I decided to combine those two. So yeah, when they interact with each other, chains of interaction and reaction will eventually continue bridging the barrier between them, and that's the idea. Actually, that glowing stuffs from their hand are some of specifically selected(????) chemical bonds. Serotonin, adrenaline, dopamine, and endorphin. Feel free to look up on Google on why I chose 'em haha *runs* To mimic social networking between people, I add some social links and well, vector of people avatars. Quite hard to see, though. The pads on the surface is, yep, from the periodical table! I actually want to add more effect because it's fun playing with it. However, thinking that it would be too much, I scrapped the idea. For Sociochemistry and Phystory, somehow I just can't draw their visual in situation-type, just like, say, Biogeography or Literature, for example. Especially Physics and History. Somehow I want to try steampunk-ish theme for these two, but we'll see later. It sounds catchy, though. At first, I wanted to name this one with "Contact" or "Link" but HAHAHAHA daaaamnnn so bland... In the end, after looking for words, propinquity is chosen, because, that's basically sums what their relationship is, and makes me grinning giddily //hush. You know that 'it-was-started-as-a-doodle-then-it's-getting-serious-in-the-end' thingy? Yeah, that's basically sums this one. I always wanted to draw Socio in swimsuit again after the last time!!! So actually this was started as a practice (since the pose itself referencing from a base). But then I like how the sketch turned out, so I decided to line it... and color it instead of working on comms //runs For shading practice as well! I'm quite happy with the result~ She is actually wearing bikini under that orange sarong, but the sarong is styled like this so it looks like a beach dress. Aside from Socio, Linguistics' swimsuits is also my favorite up until now, though. Heh heh. Come to think of it, I want to draw them again in swimsuits... Summer still far... Speaking of color, finally I decided to alter Chem and Socio hair color, so it's kind of darker and more natural.
I also came up with new color palettes! I'll add STKR kids once I'm done deciding their palette. ...and now I should back to work, February will end no longer than a week *shriek* Comments are closed.
