all grown up Yes, even the grown-ups, as well. I've been talking about this several times in the art journal entries and now, I'm writing it out. Finally. When I'm done with the kids' ensemble and giving them the complete character sheets, concepts, blah blah, et cetera, it did come across my mind about the what-if situation when proceeding to the next batch of kids. Considering that I was working at the shitennou at that time, I was like, hey what if they become older, some sort of fast forward to the future??? And without further ado, I quickly scribbled their headshots, once I'm done finishing all the work. The very initial image. At that time, I just thought that one thing for sure, their hairstyles eventually changed. Other than that, everything was all over the place. To make up for it as well, when I thought to age up the kiddos, conversely, I thought to age down the grown-up ones. Even now, I'm still interested in executing this idea. Yet, it never bears to fruition for the lack of info of the remaining schools—since I'd like to draw them in their respective school uniforms, just like the kiddos. Now, though, I might execute that since I got a concrete idea. With or without uniform, here I go. And boy, do I digress from the main topic, ok, I'll cover about that later. Done with the headshots, of course, I'm thinking on give them some kind of proper full-body sketch. I was struggling, both thinking of the attires, as well as the time to execute that. Two years passed, I managed to color it, at last. Howeveeeeeeeeeeeer, since the sketch was old and... I feel like I didn't do enough justice to them, as well as I want to fix some proportions, I came up with new designs recently. Like, five days ago. No joke. Nevertheless, I feel I'm satisfied with this one. Well, like the drill, let's break it down one by one—along with the old design. DesignI always associate Zreyn with something elegant, refined, yet not trying too hard—because she's old money, not a nouveau riche. Something classic like good ol' black and white will do. A sheath dress is a must. It's her trademark, like, it shapes her maturely but it also plausible enough to be a dress to wear for work. At first, I took the BBC Sherlock's Irene Adler infamous white dress as the reference. It does suit her well, but I was concerned at the length (laughs). When redrawing her on the new concept, I also went with the woman in the white image, but I change the dress into a more professional-looking one. I want to emphasize her boss-vibe and... giving the impression that she is already a mother?? How, though. Giving her all-white makes her unnecessary large... Not quite what I have in mind, so I give her some dark accents in her dress to make her look slim. I also give the dark accents in her blazer and pumps as well, so it won't be boring and monotonous. Right, I also want to emphasize her wealth, but in a subtle way, so... white-gold earrings, white-gold accent belt, white-gold bracelet and bangle, and the wedding ring, the important one. I deliberately choose the white variation instead of the original gold one, since, eh, it doesn't blend well. Also, as the authority, the boss, giving her a blazer over her shoulder is something teiban. I also make her hair shorter for a fresh look. Obviously, she ditched the tiara but hey, even without her tiara, Zreyn already has a queen vibe, and I'll keep that as the point. Rayne... doesn't bother with fashion. She also lives in the wizarding world, unlike Zreyn who mingles in both worlds, so... I make her clothes not as stylish. I think she would dress modestly, so she covers most of her bodies, and she dresses for comfort, so the warm colors. Still, though, I want to emphasize that she has transformed so, even though she is still short, she is quite stacked and curvaceous, without even trying. Drawing her to determine her silhouette is fun! Being a professor, actually I wanted to make her wearing a robe at first, just like professors in HP books. However, I think the Muggle Studies professor dress more cozily than other professors, so that's where I get the idea of giving her tartan outer. Nothing changes significantly from Rayne's design, except that the outer robe now turned into a wrap shawl. Aside from a bodacious figure, giving her long hair is a must, since, well, she's a merwitch. The marine accessories too, as an obligatory, heh heh. Ah, yes, I'd like to mention this as well. Some kids are mainly working/focusing on the wizarding realm, while the others are focusing on both worlds—but more leaning to the muggle community. I want to make a distinction that the kids in the muggle world are more adapt to fashion, hence the sharp cuts, the sleek and muted colors, and more stylish appearance, in general, as they need to blend with muggles. Contrasting to it, kids who are dabbling much at the wizard realm are more... old fashioned, medieval-ish, and *shrugs* more wizard-ish since I think they dress for comfort and practicality. Moving on, I always have this thought in mind that Tilla would be the one with significant growth. He fed well, in a lot of contexts. Plus, his uncle is beeg and scawy, so he inherits that as well, as a generation xerox. Tilla is the very type of person who dresses for comfort, yet, still think to blend with muggles as well, due to his job. Hence, even though he wears a loose and baggy shirt coupled with a shawl, there is still a modern touch from his Capri pants and the sneakers. His safety goggles, when he's off duty, he turns it into a colored lens with low opacity, simply for protecting his eyes. However, it will turn into a normal, transparent, valid safety goggles by magic, should he work. I also believe that when he's at the lab, he'll wear a toilet slipper or crocs instead of that sneakers. His clothes on his little self are vibrant in colors, so... I want to use the same, albeit duller on this one. Well, symbolizing that he grew more jaded and darker hahahaaaa. Unlike the lab techs or scientists that wear their uniform properly, I want to have him... kinda casual on that department? hence the homey attire. He rolls his sleeves, as well. But of course, when it comes to work and deemed necessary, he will wear his coat properly. I'm borrowing a lot of elements from my other kiddos, actually for his design. The shade came from Kei's, and his shirt, haha I just want to a similarity between him and Chem. Kay is the interesting one to draw. Unlike her little self who pays little attention to fashion as long as it doesn't bother her when flying, she becomes a bit stylish when she turned into an adult. Of course, this not entirely her effort, Feli's the one who takes the credit here, since I always imagine that Feli would at least criticize her fashion choice HAHA. At home, though, she would rather dress in a long T-shirt and knickers, or something like that. I always wanted to make her the bold one, because she has the look and she is the most possible one to experiment with among other kiddos. I want to emphasize her figure but... in a stylish way????? what am I talking. So, well, cleavage window. Yes. The cleavage window is important because her hair is shaped that way and I just want to give clarity that she is a woman despite her androgynous choice of fashion. However, her appealing point is not her chest, but her legs. Long legs. So I stress it more by giving her a pantsuit, and a dark one at that for more class. At first, she was wearing a knee-length, but I just went away and revamped it and make it longer. Also yes, being an athlete, I think she is quite muscular, but not in a way bodybuilder does. And inheriting her family trait, she is tall. Like, even she is taller than Tohma HAHA. I always think that her real-life model/image would be... Elizabeth Debicki? She's cool and she just can pull both androgynous and feminine images, so I took that reference for this particular kiddo. Making her have short and shaved hair is something that always I have in mind. Rather, it's weird seeing her growing her hair long. And I'm really pleased with the result. Compared to the others, Tohma is probably the most low-key when it comes to transition. I like his hairstyle for the yule in his kiddo sheet, so I take it as his usual hairstyle here. He already has this... proper image with waistcoat, shawl, and long outer coat, so that's still the same here. However, considering that he is mirroring Senryuu, his uncle, in some aspects, I also took reference from Senryuu's attire for drawing him. I... kinda want to have him having an Oriental dash, but in subtle way and not trying too hard on it, considering that he's living on the Western side of the world and not in his homeland. Hence, like his uncle, the oriental-collared shirt, and I slap some oriental patterns here and there, but not too much. I think he is the easy one to draw because, being an Auror, his gear wouldn't that hard to think. Actually, his current design is not that different from the initial one, but I decided to leave his coat open because the closed one makes it monotonous. For Phillia, I always think that short-sleeved upper + long skirts will do, since the very first. Hence, it doesn't change. However, I want to give her a proper gear as opposed to the lazy-ass made up I did on the initial one. So there she is, with a bodice and proper utility belt. Being working together with Tad, I want to have their attires some kind of similarities, but still distinct to each other. So, the only similarity they have is the design on the lower part. The cleric-ish long skirt. Or robe, in Tad's case. They also wear boots because running an itinerant clinic, they need to walk here and there, and I just slapped them down for practicality. I like her color scheme better here. It's not like I don't want to give her a light-colored accent, rather, I suck at blending that with her skin tone hahaaaaa orz Also, at first, I thought to let her hair down and gave her some hair accessories, matching with Rayne. However, being a nurse, I think it would be a hassle for her to have her hair running here and there, so it's fastened in a bun. The best part? It's actually a flower-shaped bun, as seen here, and I really like on how it turned out heh hehe hehe~ Feli is the biggest offender and the very reason why I wanted to revamp the sketch (laugh). Her position in the initial one is kinda iffy, so I want to make her standing properly like the others. Feli, along with Phillia, perhaps... is the ones that I changed entirely. Like Kay, I always think of her fashion choice as something bizarre, bold, yet still looking good and acceptable in France HAHA. As opposed to little Feli who dresses cutely in pastel and frilly and princessy lolita clothes, her older self taking a sharp turn into something sharp and quite revealing, but not racy. And the feminity is still there. In Japanese fashion style terms, perhaps she turned from classic and sweet lolita into an oneegyaru. Short skirts and boots are a must. For extra quirkiness, I give her a big ass faux mink hahaha, and a huge designer ring (not pictured, sad) along with stylish glasses. Her style... is very muggle-ish, yet muggle themselves don't dress like that in normal occasion. That's the quirkiness I want to have for her. I like to have her hair styled in a lot of hairdos. At first, I was going with a big ponytail just for giving an extra quirky look. But then, she's already extra from her attire, so I toned it down and make her hair down, as simple as that. I also imagine that she has super straight long hair with even trims that makes people jealous. I'm jealous. So, there. I'm also happy that I'm able to give her yellow as her main color now, considering she always goes with pink as the main color, while it's supposed to be yellow. I'm very pleased with her new look. Like I said on the preface, I only thought of making the future versions only for the kiddos. However, some months ago, I was drawing Imogen in different hairstyles and jokingly thought that hm, she prolly has this hairstyle in the future hahaaaaaa... ....and then, yeah, I proceed to draw all the grown-ups in their future selves like a clown. Moving on! Unlike the kiddos, I think the grown-ups are rather subdued and low-key in the transformation, so it's not as glaring... Like Mish here. Actually, I like his current hairstyle, but for the future one, I think he styles it slightly differently. And yes, he wears glasses because he already became an ossan. For his attire... I want something slightly different, so I took reference from the Double Face unit costume. He no longer wears a trench coat, since he has become a higher-up and busy with other things than missions as agents, so he opts to a simpler dark robe. Still, a magical robe is magical, so while not look like it, it's actually more durable than his old trench coat. Contrasting to his monotonous attire in the current timeline, I want to give him a slight of contrasting color, hence green. His wife's image color. Also, being an ossan means being older in physical appearance. To achieve that, bam, I slapped extra stubble. Now, he does look as his age. Hmm. Being older also means being wiser. For Bayu, who is known to be sloppy in his attire, I make him sharp as heck here. Hence, the sharp waistcoat, sharp slacks, and shorter hair. Unlike Mish who has stubble to make him look older, I give Bayu a goatee here just for variation and... fresher look?? as opposed to his current self. The sharp look is also considered due to his position as senior staff, and back being a professor, so I want to have him have this professional neat look and a serious vibe. Still, though, he's the good older brother Bayu, hahaaa. Like me and my consciousness to give him something traditional, he is still wearing the batik neck-tie. His waistcoat also has a batik pattern on the side. Not too much, just like I did with Tohma. Thinking about Tad's attire made me having a headache, actually. As he is no longer work in the institution, he ditches his green robe. I based his attire from cleric and healer attires in RPG, so, yeah. It's kinda boring to have him dressed in green and white only, so I give some accents on his white robe. And yes, he's now wearing a robe on a daily basis, like the classic wizard, so I don't need to draw one as extra HAHA. Ah, I think I also took reference for it from Nicholas Flamel from the Fantastic Beasts 2. As opposed to Mish and Bayu who have short haircuts, I make Tad grows his hair longer. I like to do his hair with an elaborate hairdo, just like Phillia. And boi, I really, really like this future self of him than his current self. I admittedly having fun in designing him. Letting Imogen with her hair down gives her a different vibe, hence I did so. She is... being an original flavor of witch, and living secluded at that, I think she dresses for practicality. Still dull and light in color, I replaced her bloomer with a simple dress. I like this dress, simple, monotonous, but still in vibe with her. It's kinda medieval-ish, somehow from the neckline and the sleeves, but that's just the best for her. I just like how her image changes from a sassy tiny child into a maiden, something like that. I love her. I don't have any other comments. Thank you. PremiseBeing older, their stories are also being more... complex? for the kiddos, and more relaxed, for the grown-ups. I like dabbling a lot with stories in their future timeline since it opens up more possibilities. However, to recap:
Other than that, the detailed one is already written on their respective entries in the Toyhou.se!! End noteAt first, this future self is only a throwaway concept for fun. Now, while the fun still exists, it becomes... integrated? In their whole journey. Ahh, aside from this, I also wanted to make the gender-bend version and talk about it. Though yes, for this one, it's just purely for fun. Some sketches I did so I don't forget the essentials. I talk about it later.
It's kind of ironic that I draw them in a batch like this often, but never at the slightest I draw them like in a single drawing in a canvas. Hmmm, I really want to do it sometimes, when I have a clear concept... Comments are closed.
