flip it in, bend it out I’m a sucker for genderbending my kiddos, like, half of the cast in the SoL-verse can attest since they were originally counterpart/genderbend for each other. I did make a genderbend concept for the SM! kids as well, back then, which ironically never see the light until now… hahaha I’ll progress on it soon! So, yep, when it comes to this verse, of course it would be inevitable, yo. When… making a genderbend for a kid, I usually put quite a contrast on their personality? Like, basically the same person, but either I water down the quirk, or turn it up into eleven. Putting much effort on their design is something that I really like, always! Because the indulgence is there. But, all in all, genderbend is never meant to be serious for me. So yeah, when I thought to make a genderbend version for these kiddos, I just dabble randomly without thinking much. Still, I wanted to draw them for real, so here I am, fulfilling my own wish. I’m glad I did so. Yep, there’s not much to talk, actually…? But as per usual, I’ll break down the design point and all. Here we go! Since I can’t think of a good counterpart name for Zreyn, I resorted to use her middle name as the first name, hence Alexander, from Alexia. Zreyn essentially a corruption from Azure Regine, so something along that rhyme would be Richard, I guess. I mean, that still related to money and royalty, yep. Alex is not that hard to be drawn, for I did draw him years ago when doing a double meme as a throwaway. His design is basically the base for what now become Troy aka Zreyn and Tohma’s son, so I kinda tweak his hair a little than what it was. Due to his princely young man aura, I think he will opt to wear waistcoat and business-like, unlike Zreyn who wears cardigan. Technically… Hogwarts doesn’t have waistcoat as its dress code but for him, I guess like, screw rules I have money hahahaaaaa… Also, I don’t know, I like seeing him without robes, so I ditched it to let his businesslike(??) all-out. Of heckin course I won’t give him a tiara, so that crown emblem will do as his waistcoat marker. He’s not that much different from Zreyn, studying hard, proper, and all. But yeah, maybe he’s a bit prideful and haughty by a level. Giving him gap to cuss profanity in British English is also fun hahaa so I throw it in for him. Like Zreyn, I flip the name for Rayne, so Marion becomes Marlon, mainly because Marion is sea and Marlon is lake, hahaha. Erraine becomes Ernest, again, because I can think of a good counterpart. I… think Marl is not that different from Rayne, uniform-wise. He’s a good boyo who follows the school rules so yeah, not much customization there. Being a shy person, I just want to emphasized that more, so yeah, I have him with longer bangs than Rayne. Braid is a must because I just want to have him has a hairstyle like Rayne’s father. So does with the earrings. Like Rayne, he’s still a merperson here. But tbh, I can’t imagine him in his merman form, so I’ll leave that to imagination. I also set him as someone with pet Grindylow. I want to try drawing that one. Instead of thinking the counterpart name, I search for a name with similar syllable for Tilla, so yes, it’s Aaliyah to Attila. Technically Tilla can be pronounced as Tiya as in tortilla and that’s the way I call him as of late, so it still rhymes. Drawing Alya probably the easiest and the one that I like most, since it’s easy to think of her design from the get go. I took the twin-tails inspiration from the Pokemon character? Boi I forgot her name orz and I just think that Alya is the cutest thing with her tails resembling cat’s ears, due to the animal motif. Her hair is long and sleek as well, even more so than Zreyn or Feli, perhaps. Yes, as always, I have no idea on how Uagadou uniform works, so I take much liberty in just altering Tilla’s uniform to a short dress, with a wrap. Come to think of it, now it’s only Tilla, though, whose design remain fan-made as Mahoutokoro and Castelobruxo already have their canonical design of uniform… Like Tilla, I like dressing her with baggy oversized robe hehe, it’s cute. Alya… instead of Tilla, she mayhap resembles Zreyn in the haughty part. But I think she has spoiled sweet side, too. Tilla is just too edgy and trying too hard on being a mature kid ha ha, but I think Alya is not that edgy. All in all, though, like Tilla, she’s just a kitten Since Kay has a feminine nickname as Kalya, I think that her counterpart would be so, dubbed as Kolyo. That nickname is already established as diminutive from Nikolai, though, so yep. Beside Kaylina and Nikolai… Or Nikolay, if you prefer, is only one letter difference. I love the anagram, hahaha. If I’m putting effort in drawing Kay as… handsome and bifauxnen as I try, here with Kolyo, I try to make him a bishonen to counter it. At first, I thought that perhaps he would resemble Mish, as Mish and Kay having similar face structure, actually. But after done drawing him, hahahahah I can distinguish him easily from Mish, and rather, I can’t imagine if Mish is being like him. Nothing much to put in consideration for Kolyo’s design, since Kay wears her uniform properly, so I have him, too. His hair is such a hassle to draw, but I genuinely pleased when it turns out well. Instead of design, I put much consideration in his personality, actually. Sure, he’s a dumb jock with no-filter mouth like Kay, but instead of being bold and brash, here I flip him out by being… having a girlish quality, but not making him as much as effeminate? Still though, I can imagine him calling girls by “Dahhliing~” or such, yeahh. Anyway, I want a friend like Kolyo. I guess I had one in my school days? I forgot. This kind of people is really fun to hang out with heheheh. While I’m proud of myself with the Kalya/Kolyo name, I can’t say the same thing to Tohma. Here, I also swapped one letter, from Yoshiro to Yoshiko since that letter is somehow the gender-determining letter. Truthfully… I don’t really like the name with -ko suffix, since it’s rather outdated, even in Japan. So, to make up for that, I’m playing with the kanji. Tohma has night (yo) and silver (shiro) in his name, but for Yoshi, I have happiness, blessing (yoshi) and come (ko) for her name, instead of child (ko), the typical kanji that used. So yeah, I kinda like the name meaning-wise, the happiness that comes, something like that. Also, yes, I opt to call her as Yoshi, due to the distaste I said above. Mahoutokoro technically has its canonical uniform design, but I can’t set right the short skirt for Yoshi. So… I took a liberty on changing it to hakama instead. I don’t know, she looks more proper and rintoshita that way. That’s kinda inspired from one of Kanmusu, too. She has this gentle oneesama image in my mind, so I don’t think much about her hair except from being motherly side-plait. Due to her heritage, too, I think she wears kanzashi. Something that quite rare now. Personality-wise, she’s basically still what Tohma is, though I think she’s more exhausted than him ahahaha… Thinking a counterpart name for Phillia is really easy. But, as I want some kind of variation, I change the letters from Philip to Filippe, to make it sound less obvious. Often, I mistype it as Felippe, though, hahaha. I really have no idea in drawing Filippe, but one thing for sure, I want him has slightly curly hair like Phillia, so yes, short curly hair for him. His image is really a sheep gijinka in my mind… So, I make his eyes droopy as well, to give impression that he’s always sleepy. He… wears his uniform properly, but I think his robe would be oversized, so I let it loose. Since the uniform has stripe pattern, I dunno, I just want to emulate the pajamas and night robe image in him, even though he’s wearing uniform. Personality-wise, he’s just as unreadable as Phillia. But I think, he takes pride in his magic, and that he’s quite strong despite his soft look. Felix is also easy to imagine, both from name and from design. Hm… actually I kinda lost on what would the G in his name stands for, so I chose Gilschbert. Kinda stick out, but whatever, hahaha. I did draw Felix back then for the double meme prompt, like Alex. Felix is more boisterous than Feli, although he’s not on the Kay’s level. So, due to that, I made him as someone who doesn’t bother to wear the uniform properly. I mean, he’s far from elegant hahahahah. He curls up his shirt and pants, also tucks his blazer on his waist. At first, I want him wearing striped socks to show off his childish part. But, considering that Beauxbatons’ color scheme is monotonous… it wouldn’t serve any contrast. Hence, I switched it to the typical stocking. Felix technically doesn’t wear the school-issued shoes, but I give it color that matches the school shoes. Back to his personality, he’s just as cheerful as Feli. Though, I think he’s a bit more active and has a slightly prankster side. If Feli pursuing things through visual arts, I think Felix’s forte lies in musical arts to contrast it. As per usual, when done with the kids, of course I have to make one for the older ones. When thinking of their design, technically it’s a liberty on giving them robe or not. Hence, I made two versions. Well, here we go! I always wanted to name Mish as Mikayla, so of course, that’s the name I give for his female counterpart. Unlike Kolyo who doesn’t really resemble Mishka, Mika is basically older!Kay if she dresses femininely and properly hahahahaaa. Her hair is actually as short as Agni, I don’t know, I don’t want to make her long-haired as it’s not vibing with her, but I give her some kind of hair accessories… yeah, like Kaguya from love is war, something like that. Her design is fun to think, actually! I always plan to have her wearing dangerously short skirt, skorts, actually and high boots. Quite troubled to choose between typical stocking or fishnet but haha, I opt for the former in the end. For her blouse… At first, I actually want to give her typical dress shirt, but I think it’s kinda fun to have her fashion-conscious, so yep, kinda frilly at the end. White was the color I initially picked, but it’s all bland for her, as she herself is white. So, I chose red in the end, like her original counterpart. She’s brasher in words and actions than Mish. That type of lady you don’t want to mess with because she’s drill sergeant nasty. Plainly scary, as well. But unlike Mish, I make her as a brocon hahahahahahhaa. Kolyo is not pleased at all, though, with this. But at least, these two has much, much better and healthier relationship than Mish and Kay. At this point, I think my preference for older sister – younger brother dynamic is more prevalent than the older brother – younger sister one, hahaha. In thinking of Agni’s name, I minced word per word from Bayu’s name. Since Bayu means air, I think of fire as its counterpart, hence Agni. Wira essentially means hero, so I chose heroine, or princess, in other words, hence Putri. As Bayu has Tubagus in his name, she… also has Ratu in her name. But she thinks of it as embarrassing. I, too, think of it as embarrassing, so she tends to omit that, just like Bayu. Thinking of Agni’s design is rather easy… She’s all cutesy, so I want a soft, flowy, and harmless look in her. Fuwari-kei of sorts. That’s why her bob hair is fluffy, her dress is frilly, and her skirt is flowy. I think she rarely wears robe, for she works most in the office. But I make her robe as similar as Bayu’s anyway. She… lets out a childish and innocent aura? But she’s not innocent at all as she has mature preferences hahahahahahah. I might think she’s kinda slightly easy and promiscuous, but maybe it’s just because of her harmless look, and her preference. Still, though, she’s that typical chick who can kicks in dire situation. Dorothea’s name is basically an anagram from Theodore, another spelling of Thaddeus. I like this name, but sadly I can’t cut it short sdfghjgfdgh Among others, she’s the easiest to imagine and draw straightly, since I just can take the Mediwizard robe and Madam Pomfrey’s matron costume and presto, it’s her. I don’t really want her to become basic, though… So, I make her bodice rather elaborate with some extras. Physically, she’s the most endowed one because I want to invoke the Mama vibe from her hahahahaahaha. Actually, I never thought that Tad’s hair would work as a girl, so I surprised myself when it does work. Just adding extra bun. Like Tad, I think Dorothea has a… slightly outdated fashion choice? I really can imagine her with ‘50s style and having basic homemaking hobby. If Yoshi is a progressive oneesama, perhaps Dorothea is the old-style oneesama, or even hitozuma, hahaha. Fidel is the hardest in everything except name. I’m used to call Imogen as Iman, and it means faith in my native language. So, I searched for a name based on that, and voila, Fidel. Technically I always call him as Amin, an anagram of Iman, and that name also means Faith… so yeah, I won both rounds. I want him to have outdated fashion, something you can’t call as a fashion, even. He basically dresses in his sleeping wear ha ha, so yeah, baggy t-shirt with harem pants. I also make his cape more like Darius instead of Imogen, so it’s short-sleeved. Giving him goldie accessories and braid is a must as always, so down I go. Personality-wise, he’s the closest one on what I concepted Imogen initially. Imogen is more jaded and more pragmatic nowadays, so I made Fidel more lighthearted, with his hobo speaking style and impish tendency. Imogen still has her impish tendency… but now, it’s kind of more subdued as she’s really jaded and acerbic. Height-wise… I’m kinda surprised that there’s no one taller than 180cm.
Even Kolyo only stands at 179 as the tallest. I give him props on that. I’m happy that I finally can finish their design, even though I feel I’m very slow in executing it. Heck, same does with writing this entry. It’s long huhu. Guess that’s all! I don’t have any other design for them. To date, this verse is the one which I draw most for having a lot of alterations. Well… they do appear as the cast for the ETG ensemble, but as for that, I’ll talk about it in the right time and right place later. Heh heh. Comments are closed.
